Oncology Massage

A light, gentle massage can serve to ease many symptoms of cancer and its common treatments. Massage can relieve pain, nausea, and anxiety.  Click here for information from the American Cancer Society on Massage. Gayle Mac Donald also has another great article that can be found here.

Swedish Massage

One of the best-known types of massage, in which the therapist uses a variety of flowing, kneading, and tapping strokes to improve circulation and promote relaxation.

Myofascial Release

The fascia is a layer of connective tissue that surrounds every structure in the body. Normally, this protective sheath allows muscles and organs to slide easily past each other, but inactivity, injury, and age can cause the fascia to stick, restricting movement and causing pain. This modality aims to restore the fluid nature of the connective tissue with stretching and kneading movements.

Reflexology

Through stimulation of specific areas on the feet, the therapist is able to affect the function of all systems of the body and restore proper balance.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Using light, repetitive strokes, Manual Lymphatic Drainage encourages the reuptake and circulation of lymph through the body, reducing swelling and improving immunity. The light, repetitive strokes also encourage deep relaxation.
